You know, Puff Daddy, Puffy, P.Diddy, Diddy, whatever you want to call him has been doing this shit for a LONNNNG time, and if it wasn't for word of mouth NO ONE on their damn roster would have made it...
For example, Cheri Dennis...see you don't even know who the hell that is do you? She came out with that one song "I Love You" that had the Capo (Jim Jones) featured on it in about 05. Bet you didn't know that she dropped a CD in Feb of this year, been on Bad Boy since 1999. Bad, bad marketing. Another example, Cassie, need I say more. Ok, she wasn't the worst, but still.
A more recent example, Donnie Klang...I don't remember seeing a commercial, a poster, or a plug about his cd unless it was during MTB.
Diddy needs a better marketing team, even his heavy hitters (Danity Kane, Day 26) aren't marketed correctly. If it wasn't for the show playing their songs during episodes would you have bought it?? I wouldn't have! When the show ended, he released 1 song...for both artist groups, accompanied with a video...next song wasn't put out until MONTHS later. And poor poor Donnie, since his cd wasn't completed during the course of the show...he cd aint sell shit...not even certified Gold to be exact.
Dare we remember people like Faith Evans, 112, Craig Mack (which was one of the original hit makers around the same time Big was hot/alive), the L.O.X, B5 (lmao, they caught the hint and left cause of lack of promotion, way to get out kids!)...Hell everyone wants a record deal, but unless ur on a hit tv show at the time...dont make Bad Boy of them...
